Biography

Jiří Philippe Janda is a visual artist, architect, and researcher in the field of generative art.

In his work, he connects artificial intelligence with art, focusing on the creation of virtual worlds and digital ecosystems. He explores the blurred boundaries between technology and nature, reality and fiction, memory and transformation. Using generative tools, video, and spatial interventions, he creates immersive ecosystems and narrative structures that reflect contemporary anxieties and speculative visions of the future.

He is currently a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Art and Design in Ústí nad Labem, where he researches the relationship between human and machine creativity and how we place trust in images in the age of artificial intelligence.

Artist statement

I perceive the world as a space where reality merges with fiction, where algorithms dream, and artificial intelligence becomes my creative companion. I am an architect of both physical and digital landscapes—a creator of worlds that never existed, yet may feel real to someone.

In my work, I explore the boundaries between matter and data, nature and industry, past and future. I don’t see AI merely as a tool, but as an entity with its own language and aesthetics—an entity I engage in dialogue with. Through generative images and videos, I search for new forms of visual communication and viewer interaction.

My focus is not on isolated images or videos, but on building cohesive worlds—digital ecosystems with their own histories, structures, and internal logic. Each of my projects is part of a broader narrative that intertwines technology with organic forms and gives rise to new mythologies.

My work has been presented at exhibitions and festivals, contributing to ongoing discussions about the future of art and technology. I’m not drawn to nostalgia for the analog world—I’m interested in what comes next. What new rituals, images, and stories will the era of generative aesthetics bring?

Education

My path weaves through architecture, design, and digital arts:

Now – PhD candidate at the Faculty of Art and Design, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University
Researching AI-generated art, speculative worlds & hybrid media.

2016 – Master’s in Architecture & Civil Engineering, VSB-TUO

2014 – Erasmus at İstanbul Kültür University
Immersed in cultural intersections of architecture and art.

2013 – Bachelor’s in Architecture & Civil Engineering, VSB-TUO

Workshops

Upcoming 2025

NEUR:ON – Summer School of Neural Visions
An intensive workshop focused on creating AI-generated video and dynamic visual storytelling. Participants explore generative tools to produce experimental films and AI-powered visual essays on the future of image-making.

2024

TBM PLAI #1, FUD UJEP
A workshop specifically designed for students of the Time Based Media studio at the Faculty of Art and Design. It focused on working with time-based media, experimental visuals, and creative applications of generative tools.
Instructor: Jiří Philippe Janda

AAF PLAI #1, FUD UJEP
A workshop for the Applied Photography studio at FUD, focused on using online platforms for generative art. During the full-day program, participants explored applications for generating and editing images and videos using AI, and learned how to integrate these tools into their own creative processes.
Instructor: Jiří Philippe Janda

2023

PLAI #0, House of Art, FUD UJEP
An introductory workshop focused on the basic principles of artificial intelligence and major generative platforms. Participants practically explored tools for text-to-image, image-to-image, image-to-3D, and image-to-video generation.
Instructor: Jiří Philippe Janda
